課程概述 考試範圍

This course explores key global issues shaping today’s world, including digital influence, economic pressure, technological change, and ongoing conflicts across different regions. Through topics such as influencers, AI in daily life, misinformation, global conflicts, and demographic change, students will develop a broader understanding of current world affairs, with selected topics connected to the Taiwanese context.

Students will build reading and listening skills while developing the ability to analyze information critically. Emphasis is placed on discussion, where students learn to express ideas clearly, consider different perspectives, and support their views with reasoning.

Approximately 50% of the course content relates to academic and professional contexts.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Understand and respond to spoken and written English used in everyday, social, and general academic contexts
Communicate effectively using appropriate vocabulary, tone, and conversational structure
Express personal ideas, opinions, and experiences clearly and confidently in a variety of general settings
Demonstrate the ability to comprehend, summarize, and discuss information from general texts, academic text, and media sources

課程要求

Please attend class on time. Being late for 20 minutes without a legitimate reason will be considered absent for that hour. One point will be taken away from the final grade for every unexcused absence (2-hour class). A medical treatment receipt should be submitted along with the official sick leave form.

All submitted assignments should reflect your unique perspective and independent thought. When referencing internet sources or AI-generated material, proper citations are essential. Failure to acknowledge original sources or engaging in plagiarism will lead to a failing grade.
