| 課程概述 | 考試範圍 | 此課設計為讓學生進步溝通能力，尤其會專注於加強理工相關的聽說讀寫能力。課程中會運用authentic 及 多文化的教材來協助學習。課堂中，會有 teacher-center 及 student-center 的教學方式。 The course is designed to improve students’ communication skills, with particular emphasis placed on improving engineering related listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Authentic and cross-cultural material will be used in this class to assist learning. There will be balance between teacher-centered instruction and student-centered instruction. This course is designed mainly for students to build a strong English base through an interactive learning environment. A mixture of both academic and daily English will be present. |

| 課程目標 | 考試簡介 | 修完本課程，學生應能 1. 聽懂社交談話、公共場所廣播、及一般的演講與簡報； 2. 以日常生活英語交談或描述一般事物，介紹自己的生活作息、工作、家庭與經歷，並可對一般話題陳述看法，進行簡單的問答； 3. 以個人或團體的方式進行簡報。 On successful completion of this course, students will be able to 1. understand social conversations, public announcements, talks/lectures and presentations; 2. describe personal experiences (routines, hobbies, jobs, family, etc.), express opinions and share thoughts in conversations; 3. make personal/group presentations. |

| 課程要求 | 此課主要設計為讓學生在一個互動式的環境建立英文基礎。課裡會引用日常生活的英語和學術英語。此外，課裡會實施task-based 教學和 student centered 教學—也就是說，課裡會有許多的小組互動。學生會被要求要在課裡發言因為熟能生巧。由於課程為線上課程，學生必須確保視訊以及麥可風可以用，同時此門課程第一堂，期中考以及期末考須到校。 Task-based instruction and student-centered instruction will be implemented—meaning there will be a lot of pair work, group work and interaction. Students will be asked to speak up because practice makes perfect. As the course is an online course, students will be responsible for confirm the functionally of individual equipment. Also, students will be required to come to NCU for the first day of class, midterm exam, and final exam. |
